Miss Czech-Slovak Wisconsin Queen Pageant
23nd Annual Wisconsin State Pageant
Purpose: To instill ethnic pride in the participants, foster knowledge and an appreciation for their heritage, keeping in mind they are first, Americans.
Who is Eligible To Compete: Single women between the ages of 17-25, of part Czech, Slovak, Moravian, Silesian (part of Poland today), or Rusyn heritage, or adopted by parents of this heritage.
Awards:
-The Queen will receive a crown, flowers, sash, $600 cash at the end of her reign, special gift, plus an all-expense paid trip to the Annual National Czech Slovak US Festival, the first weekend in August, 2023 in Wilber Nebraska (http://www.ci.wilber.ne.us/festival.asp) where they will represent Wisconsin.
-The Princess (first runner-up) will receive a crown, flowers, sash, special gift and $400 cash at the end of her reign.
-Kroj and the John Fiala Talent winners will also receive cash awards and special gift.
Competition Categories:
· -Kroj (national folk dress)
-Private Interview - before 3 qualified judges (9 minutes) ·
-On-Stage Interview ·
-Talent Competition; (4 Minutes) - may be Americanized or traditional nationality. Talent may be presented in English or if one has command of the
Czech/Slovak language, in the native tongue. Assistance is available.
Little Sister and Queen’s Royal Court Programs: The state pageant has served as an excellent vehicle for getting youth interested in their heritage. Each candidate and member of the Queen’s Court will also be assigned a “little sister” who “shadows” her during the weekend.
