Each year candidates from all over the state of Wisconsin come to Phillips to compete for the title of Wisconsin Czech-Slovak Queen (ages 17-25). The winner of this competition represents the state of Wisconsin at the national competition in Wilber Nebraska the first weekend in August. See this link for more information on the National Competition. The state pageant has served as an excellent vehicle for getting youth interested in their heritage. The weekend is filled with events which keep the candidates busy.
The Miss Czech Slovak Wisconsin Queen pageant actively searches the state for a single young woman
between the ages of 17-25 that loves their heritage and wants to promote Czech and Slovak culture throughout Wisconsin. Contestants need to be of Czech, Slovak, Moravian, Rusyn, and/or Silesian descent or the adopted daughter of someone of this heritage.
Candidates will compete in four major areas: a private interview, on stage interview, Kroj modeling (folk dress), and Talent. Cash scholarships, crowns, & prizes (totaling about $2500) are awarded to the chosen Queen and Princess (first runner-up), as well as oratory, kroje, and talent winners.
For younger young ladies and gentlemen, we offer a couple other programs:
* Queen's Royal Court (ages 13-17) and
* Little Siblings (age 7-12)
