Meister's Old World Beer Garden
Saturday 20 June 2011
7-10 pm
Lots of music to enjoy and you can taste different beer from regional micro breweries. Vote on your favorite beer. Also Czech beer for sale in the bar and grill. Try the famous Northwood's, Meister's burger. Last year the South Shore Microbrewery in Ashland, Wi won first place at the 28th annual Wisconsin State Czech-Slovak Festival in Phillips, Wi June, 18. The
entry from South Shore Brewery was their popular "Red Lager". Few know that it was in Czech-Slovakia that Lager and Pilsner beers originated. Even today Czech-Slovakia consumes more beer per capita than any other country in the
world. Even the famous Budweiser beer originated in Czech-Slovakia. Last year the beer competition was held at Meister's Patio in Phillips, Wi and the beers were judged by local residence, many whose families came from Czech-Slovakia.
Second place was won by "Old Duck" brewed by D. Welch of Phillips. Third place was won by "Dardis Gold" brewed by D. Marschke of Minneapolis. One surprise entry was a home made Root Beer that was judged a "perfect 10" by most of the
judges. The Phillips' community is looking forward to this year's competition being even larger but at a new location.
