What are the Requirements to Become Miss Czech-Slovak Wisconsin Queen? |
|
Private & Personal Interviews(iPrivate Interview:
These are by yourself with the three judges. You will be asked three common questions (each is asked the same general questions), the same kroj question, and then the judges are free to ask any question they may have, especially from your application. This interview will last 9-20 minutes. Public On-Stage Interview: You will be asked three questions. The first will be a personalized question that is derived from your application. In other words, know your application. The next two questions will be drawn from a basket. One will be a Czech-Slovak history type question (see the button below to bring you to the exact questions you might draw from the basket) and the other will be a general kroje question, also drawn by you to answer. This is to see how well you "think on your feet", a quality a queen needs to have out in the public. The Oratory Award is based on these interviews. |
Kroje & Kroje ModelingThe Kroje is the national costume of your ancestors. Each region, often each village, had their own distint kroje that was distinguishable amongst the rest. Kroje is a huge part of the pageant as it visibly is a part of your Czech-Slovak heritage.
Application: On your application, you will be asked about the authenticity of your kroj, the accuracy of your kroj, and family connections to your kroj. You will also submit a 250-word description of your kroj that will be read aloud as you model it during the pageant. Your kroj can be self-made, purchased, antique, or brand-new. Modeling: You will be presenting your kroje as read in your description. You will present in a poised, confident manner the folk dress of your people, showing off the various pieces of your kroj from head to toe. Judges will be using your modeling, your description as well as your application answers to judge the Kroje Award. |
Talent PresentationThis is a chance for you to show off. For many (both audience and candidates), it is the most fun part of the pageant. You have up to four minutes to complete your talent.
What can I do as a talent? Almost anything can be a talent. While the most obvious is often singing or playing a musicial instrument, consider what makes you unique and how it applies to your heritage.
